Topps Living Set a unique idea, but will it last?

The Topps Living Set is a unique idea and an interesting way to collect cards.
As explained on the Topps website, this trading card set “starts with Card #1, but does not have a final card. It’s not tied to any specific season or era, but lives on year after year.”
It’s also billed as the “first cross-generational product that can be collected and traded for years to come.”
Some have already gravitated towards collecting this set since Week 1 when the first of three cards were released (Aaron Judge, Joe Panik, Nicholas Castellanos). A new set of three cards featuring three different players (past and present) has been released each subsequent week.
The look of the cards are also unique in that the artwork is created by renowned sports artist Mayumi Seto.
The most valuable card currently seems to be Nick Markakis whose card has the lowest print run.
This PSA 10 Graded card is currently listed for $2,000.

Of course, the Aaron Judge cards also have good value currently with a PSA Graded 10 going for $120.

The big question is how long will this set really keep going? If interest wanes in this set, will Topps be committed to keep it going? Will the same artist be responsible for creating new cards or will it be necessary to bring someone else on?
Does the fact that the set may never be completed diminish its value at all?
For now, those are questions with no answers but collectors who are into the Living Set can look forward to another three cards next week.
(If you’re a fan of Gleyber Torres, here’s an investment lot of 400 of his Topps Living cards, ungraded, listed for $10,000!)
