Is Cincinnati Reds' Joey Votto underrated?

Like this article on the Sports On Earth website states, whenever anyone speaks of the best first basemen of the game today, Cincinnati Reds’ Joey Votto isn’t usually in the top 3…or even top 5.
Screen Shot 2017-05-28 at 2.11.01 PM.pngUnless you play fantasy baseball, which accounts for OBP, Votto isn’t a player many people target.
But check his career stats out and it’s pretty impressive.
Let’s start with the obvious. He’s hit north of .400 in OBP and demonstrated time and time again, his impeccable eye and feel for the strikezone. In two months of this season, he’s struck out less than 30 times.
With that eye, Votto has enough power to drive the ball with strong contact. While not known for his power, he’s fully capable of hitting 20-plus homeruns every season (who once hit 37 homeruns in 2010).
Despite what he’s accomplished to date, Votto doesn’t seem to get the recognition he deserves both in baseball and in the hobby.
His 2008 Bowman Chrome Draft refractor rookie card (BGS Graded 9.5) is currently on sale for $45.
Sometimes players like Votto won’t get popular in the collecting world unless he plays for a big market team. Until then, it might not be worth the investment despite acknowledging how well he plays.
