What are cut autograph cards and why are they valuable?

So first, what are cut autograph cards?

If you’re new to collecting, it’s simply a trading card featuring an autograph cut from another piece of document. For example, the autograph can be cut from a signed cheque or an old contract.

While modern day autograph cards are either signed on a sticker or right on the card themselves, it’s not always possible to get authentic autographs from athletes or celebrities.

So it’s not surprising many of the cut autograph cards feature those who come from the past, ranging from older athletes (ie. Jackie Robinson) to past U.S. presidents.

As there are only a limited number of signed documents available, many of these cut autograph cards are fairly valuable.

Here are several listed on eBay that are available to bid on or to purchase. Click on the link to see the listing.
