MORE INFO ON PAOLO BANCHERO: The scouting report on the 6’9″ athlete is that he can run the floor with ease, finish at the rim with power, and rebound the ball with authority.
He’s already demonstrated those skills in his first year in the NBA, making it difficult for defenders to stop him from getting to the basket.
Born on February 8, 2003, in Seattle, Washington, Banchero played for the O’Dea High School Fighting Irish, where his size, athleticism, and skill set him apart from his peers.
He has a good shooting touch from the perimeter and has the ability to create his own shot. Defensively, Banchero has quick feet, good instincts, and is a solid shot-blocker, averaging nearly two blocks per game during his senior year in high school.
Some have identified Banchero’s high basketball IQ, which is a coach’s dream since it allows him to effectively defend multiple positions.
Banchero made his college debut after committing to Duke with a 79-71 win against Kentucky, scoring 22 points. He earned his first Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Freshman of the Week award on Nov. 15.
As a freshman, Banchero averaged 17.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. He declared for the 2022 NBA draft on April 20, 2022, forgoing his remaining college eligibility.
