The Cincinnati Reds called up its top prospect, Elly De La Cruz, in June 2023, who has been tearing up the Triple-A Louisville league, resulting in excitement for Elly De La Cruz rookie card collectors.
In just 38 Triple-A games, De La Cruz batted an impressive .298/.398/.633 with 12 home runs and 11 stolen bases. If he kept on that pace, he would easily be a 40-40 club member.
Standing at 6-foot-5 and being able to switch-hit, De La Cruz has been on many top 5 prospect lists heading into the 2023 season.
One of the most impressive aspects of De La Cruz’s game is his ability to make solid contact and hit the ball with incredible force with his average exit velocity and the percentage of batted balls exceeding 95 mph.
De La Cruz’s launch angle is similar to the likes of Ronald Acuña Jr. and Juan Soto.
De La Cruz has primarily played shortstop and third base this season but the Reds may try him at different positions to accommodate other infield prospects.
