MORE INFO ON DRUW JONES: Jones had established himself as one of the top players in his area by his junior year, earning the Gwinnett Daily Post Baseball Player of the Year award after hitting .445 with 16 home runs and 39 RBIs.
He continued to excel during his senior year, finishing with a .570 batting average, 13 home runs, 39 RBIs, 72 runs, 33 walks, and 32 stolen bases. Jones’ impressive performance on the field led him to commit to Vanderbilt University, one of the top college baseball programs in the country.
Jones was considered one of the top prospects for the 2022 Major League Baseball draft. In the end, the Arizona Diamondbacks selected him with the second overall pick. Jones signed with the Diamondbacks, receiving a reported signing bonus of $8,185,100, and looked poised to begin his professional career.
