Here’s a list by Sports On Earth of the top 8 potential MLB call ups expected to make their big league appearance in 2017 within a month or two.
Some are to be expected like Yoan Moncada of the Chicago White Sox, Rafael Devers of the Boston Red Sox, and Amed Rosario of the New York Mets.
Those three will see their rookie card value most likely climb as they approach the official date when they do get call up. Be careful not to jump on the hype and buy those cards at inflated prices.
That is unless you’re a firm believer of their talent and expect them to produce right away over a sustained period. But most prospects go through a learning curve.
Others on the list are a bit under the radar, which could prove to have more value like Lewis Brinson of the Milwaukee Brewers and Luke Weaver of the St. Louis Cardinals.
I’d keep a closer eye on those prospects and look to see if there are good buy low opportunities. Brinson’s 2012 Bowman Chrome Draft base autographed card, for example, was sold less than two months ago for just $75 (BGS Graded 9.5/10).
Contrast that to Moncada’s 2016 Bowman Chrome base autographed rookie card (BGS Graded 9.5/10) which sold recently for $350.
