It could be the biggest rivalry right now in professional hockey – Pittsburgh Penguins’ golden boy Sidney Crosby versus the Washington Capitals’ Russian Rocket Alexander Ovechkin.
We matched them up earlier when comparing these two superstars to the worth of their rookie card values – particularly the SP Authentic autographed rookie.
We even selected the top 3 rookie cards for both Crosby and Ovechkin.
Looking now at the value of their autographed rookie cards, not much has changed. Collectors are willing to pay more (much more) for Crosby’s rookie (BGS Graded 9.5/10), which is currently listed for just under $1,800 on eBay.
Ovechkin’s rookie card (BGS Graded 9.5/10) on the other hand sold just a couple months ago for under $500.
Now that the two teams will play against each other in the second round of the 2017 NHL playoffs, hockey fans will get to witness who outmatches the other…this time.
And as long as they’re both in the league, we’ll probably be asking the question again of who’s really better and whose card would you rather have.
