Sometimes the perfect storm can take place in a season to boost a player’s value even more than the pre-season expectations.
That looks to be true for Washington Nationals’ Trea Turner who was on everyone’s radar after his tremendous finish to last season, showing a bit of pop and a lot of speed.
But what can boost his value even further are factors that aren’t even in his control.
One is where he bats in the lineup order. As any fantasy baseball player knows, the leadoff hitter can provide more at bats, which can help counting stats like runs and presumably average and on-base percentage (if he’s good enough to stay as the number one batter).
It’ll also give more opportunities once he gets on base to showcase his plus speed by stealing more bases.
Another factor is the quality of the team itself. The Nationals boast a great lineup, which can do some damage to opposing teams, and contend for the World Series this year.
It doesn’t hurt to have superstar Bryce Harper as the number three hitter with the consistent Daniel Murphy in the clean-up spot.
While it’s still super early in the season, it looks like Trea Turner could present a good return by season’s end. His 2014 Bowman Chrome Draft base auto (BGS Graded 9.5/10) is currently selling for $200.
