The polarizing figure in baseball that is Jose Canseco is back connected to the game with the Oakland Athletics where he played his most impactful baseball.
This USA Today article paints a great picture of where Canseco is at now in his life and highlights his desire to one day manage for a big league ball club.
And his foray into broadcasting Athletics games on NBC Sports California, may one day open doors to that dream, which many probably thought that door was shut tight for Canseco.
He certainly has a colorful past with some baseball fans who will never be able to excuse him for some of his past transgressions.
I admit I have a bias when it comes to Canseco, but maybe everyone deserves a second chance.
Canseco did put some eye-popping stats up throughout his career.
Undoubtedly, his connection with steroid use in baseball has tarnished his image and subsequently his rookie card value.
Currently, a 1986 Donruss Rated Rookie card (PSA Graded 10) is valued at around $100 (a PSA Graded 9 can be had for under $25). One can only wonder how high it could have been valued if all the steroid drama never occurred.
