Congratulations to the three former players – Jeff Bagwell, Ivan Rodriguez, and Tim Raines (finally) – for officially being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame today.
We’ve written about each of these three players previously and examined the impact of their rookie cards at the news of their hall of fame induction.
Here are the links to those articles below as well as our picks for their best rookie card.
1991 Stadium Club (Members Only) – PSA Graded 10
This “Members Only” version of the 1991 Stadium Club gives it more appeal for the hardcore collector.
Currently it’s valued at around $85 for a PSA Graded 10 card.
For a non-members card, the price tag is much more affordable and can be found here for less than $30 (also PSA Graded 10).
2. Ivan Rodriguez
1991 Fleer Ultra Update – PSA Graded 10
Since his rookie card came out during a time where sports cards were mass produced, its value is much lower than you’d think for a catcher with his career stat line.
But for Rodriguez and/or Texas Rangers fans, his 1991 Fleer Ultra Update rookie card (PSA Graded 10) should be readily accessible.
It won’t break the bank either routinely on sale currently for under $40.
3. Tim Raines
1981 Donruss rookie card #538
His 1981 Donruss rookie card is a classic with Raines donning his light blue Montreal Expos uniform.
One of the best leadoff hitters in the game, Raines was the prototype. He got on base regularly, stole bases and scored a lot of runs.
In his last year of eligibility, Raines was finally voted into the hall of fame and deservedly so.
