Is Jalen Hurts the QB for the Philadelphia Eagles for the foreseeable future or will he be on a short leash?
The range of outcomes are great, and in the hobby it can be boom or bust with investing in QBs (ie. from Patrick Mahomes to Sam Darnold).
Well, we know the answer to this one after a tremendous 2022-23 season after leading the team to the Super Bowl and consequently seeing a spike in sports card values of Jalen Hurt rookie cards.
If you think Hurts continues his success, then here are some Jalen Hurts rookie cards worth checking out to potentially invest in.
1. 2020 Panini Prizm Rookie Card
It’s not only basketball where Panini Prizm sets are popular. The modern football cards from Prizm hold their value well for marquis players.
Plus as with most Prizm sports card sets, there are plenty of parallels to collect as well as autographs too, which add to its value.
2. 2020 Panini Select Field Level Rookie Card
Love the Field Level set from Panini Select for the marquis and rookie stud players.
The short print Field Level cards plus with several parallels to chase gives these cards plenty of value.
3. 2020 Panini Donruss Optic Downtown Rookie Card
A different look for a rookie card, this Downtown subset from the Panini Donruss Optic set is an artistic drawing of the player with a thematic background based on the team they play for.
The cartoon eagle is an obvious choice for the Eagles QB but the card still looks cool nonetheless.
BONUS: 2020 National Treasures Rookie Patch Autograph Card
If you’re looking for one of the most expensive Jalen Hurts rookie card, then look no further than his rookie patch autograph cards from National Treasures.
When you see it, you’ll know why with its large patch and on-card autograph. It’s a real beauty with all its image variations and parallels.
MORE INFO ABOUT JALEN HURTS: Jalen Hurts was born on August 7, 1998, in Houston, Texas and played football from a young age. He quickly became a star high school quarterback and then one of the top prospects in the country.
Hurts ultimately decided to attend the University of Alabama, where he continued to play at an elite level throughout college football. In his first season as a starter, Hurts led the Crimson Tide to a national championship game (but lost to Clemson.)
Hurts was still named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year, and he followed that up, leading Alabama to the College Football Playoff once again.
It wasn’t all smooth sailing though as some doubted his ability to win big games. He eventually lost his starting job to Tua Tagovailoa.
Hurts got a chance to play again when Tagovailoa got hurt, and he subsequently led Alabama to a victory over Georgia in the SEC Championship game.
Hurts declared for the NFL Draft after college and was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round. He was initially expected to serve as the backup to starting quarterback Carson Wentz.
But again, he took the opportunity when it was given to him after Wentz went down with an injury late in the season. When the Eagles traded Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts, Hurts became the clear starting quarterback for the team.
The rest as they say in 2023 is history.
