Is the card value capped for players who have never won a championship? (RE: Ovechkin, Lundqvist)

My condolences right off the bat if you’re a Washington Capitals fan.
It’s tough to be consistently good throughout the regular season but flame out (just as consistently) after two rounds in the playoffs. This Washington Post article articulates some of that frustration after they lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 7 last night.
oviefeatureIt must have an impact on the superstar players of those teams that can’t seem to get over the proverbial hill to lead their respective team to the championship glory.
I’m thinking specifically of the Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin and the Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist.
Undoubtedly, Ovechkin will be remembered as one of the greatest players to have played the game once his career has ended. We’ve discussed how his rookie card now with all the milestones he’s already reached seems to be undervalued.
But maybe there is something to the fact that the list of accomplishments by a stud player will never be complete without a championship ring/trophy/title. And perhaps that does cap the value of said player’s rookie card.
Oveckin’s SP Authentic autographed rookie card (BGS Graded 9.5/10) can be had for about $500 compared to Sidney Crosby who has lifted the Stanley Cup and whose SP Authentic autographed rookie card is valued at four times higher than Ovi’s.
To a lesser extent, Lundqvist’s SP Authentic autographed rookie card (BGS Graded 9.5/10) is currently valued at around $160. With his career winding down, there might not be much room to increase unless he has one or two more stellar seasons…and can add a championship title to his resume.
