Hype is growing for New York Yankees prospect Clint Frazier

For the past few (several?) years, the New York Yankees were known as the team with aging stars well past their prime paid exorbitant salaries.
Alex Rodriguez, Jacoby Ellsbury, Brian McCann, Brett Gardner, and Derek Jeter are just some of the names that come to mind.
Of course, the aforementioned players were great in their prime, but baseball fans were waiting for the other shoe to drop when other teams with younger, up-and-coming stars would surpass the once-mighty Yankees.
That’s already happened. In response, the Yanks are looking to get younger and they’ve made some nice moves with potential star Aaron Judge looking to be the starting rightfielder and possibly later this season, Clint Frazier.
ESPN’s Keith Law earlier this year voted for Frazier to be the better long-term prospect when compared to Judge and it’s easy to see why.
One thing that gets repeated by analysts and scouts alike when describing Frazier is his incredible bat speed along with his ability to drive the ball with power – a minimum 20-homerun player once he adjusts to the big leagues.
He’s also noted for the adjustments he’s able to make quickly each time he goes up a level. If that trend continues, his major league career should look promising. That’s probably one big reason why the Yankees were willing to trade stud relief pitcher Andrew Miller for him last season.
Frazier’s 2013 Bowman Chrome base auto rookie card (BGS Graded 9.5/10)is currently going for $150 (as of March 2017) despite not having played for the Yankees yet.
As the hype continues to grow until his probable call up in the summer, we expect the value of his card to only increase. How much so is the question.
Like all prospects, that might represent a good short-term flip where those values could be over-inflated. But if you think he can put up steady numbers at a high-level, it could be worthwhile to hold onto his rookie card until he becomes a seasoned veteran.
