With the bad news of Shohei Ohtani’s injury, which could see him go under the knife for Tommy John surgery, his sensational rookie season seems to be over for 2018.
The effect of that news seems to be already have impacted the hobby with sales of some of his autographed rookie cards going for less than it has been even a week ago.
While it’ll take at least a year on average for him to recover (if he does get Tommy John), that could present a “buy low”opportunity for Ohtani believers.
Of course, the two main questions are will he be the same player once he returns, and how low will prices drop throughout the year?
Here are some of his autographed rookie cards up for eBay now on auction, many of which are going for less than what it sold for prior to the injury news.
