On Derek Jeter Day in New York yesterday, Alex Bregman of the Houston Astros hit his first career grand slam in front of his childhood idol.
And it happened on Mother’s Day making it extra special for Bregman.
For Astros’ fans, it seems like it’s been awhile since Bregman has exhibited his power talent. But here’s hoping he’s just warming up with his first homerun of 2017 being a sign of better things to come.
From a collector’s standpoint, his 2016 Bowman Chrome Prospect base autographed rookie card (BGS Graded 9.5/10) has dipped to the $130 to $150 level.
Contrast that to the beginning of the season when everyone was optimistic about his second-year in the big leagues and the same card was selling for $200.
For a young player like Bregman with his talent level, patience is warranted. Perhaps, his game on Mother’s Day and Derek Jeter Day was just what he needed.
