At the beginning of the season, we asked if New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey, aka the Dark Knight, will rise.
Unfortunately, the short answer is no. It seems like the Mets would settle for less than their initial superhero aspirations from the former ace. But it’s not too late for Harvey to turn things around, starting today with his scheduled start against the Milwaukee Brewers.
His 2010 Bowman Chrome Draft base autographed rookie (BGS Graded 9.5/10) is a reasonable $100. But caution is warranted before investing.
If Harvey can get back to his potential from two seasons ago, then this presents a great buy-low opportunity.
But if he continues to trend downward as he has this season with all the stats mentioned in the ESPN article here, then expect his value to decline below triple digits.
Waiting to see how Harvey pitches the next few games might be the wise action to take at the moment. And of course, there’s always the risk of investing in pitchers as we continue to remind collectors.
Again, the advice here is: Proceed with caution.
