Inspired by a post on Twitter asking collectors which sports card did they always want, why, and finally get, we wanted to ask our readers the same question.
We know some cards have personal value which is worth much more than its market value.
For me, I wrote about Ken Griffey Jr. – one of my favorite players of all time with his smooth swing – and his Upper Deck rookie card. When I got back into collecting, a little older and more disposable income than when I was a pre-teen, it was one of the first cards I bought.
It only took a couple of decades to get my hands on one and the memories it brought back were worth the cost of the card itself.
It’s not a baseball card I’d ever sell…unless it’s an upgrade from my current PSA Graded 9 to a PSA Graded 10, which comes with a hefty price increase (maybe one day).
Email us your story to fivecardguys@gmail.com about which card holds special meaning to you, why and finally added to your collection. We’ll post it up on our website and will also have a random draw on June 30, 2017 from all the entries submitted to give away a random lot of 100 sports cards.
Look forward to hearing your stories!
