Heralded as one of the best players to enter the NBA Draft in 2021, Cunningham was the first overall pick by the Detroit Pistons.
His prowess on the court was noticed when he played for Oklahoma State that won him the Big Player of the Year and Big 12 Freshman of the Year in the same season.
He also received the NCAA Division Freshman of the Year Honors: the Wyman Tisdale Award along with Sporting News Freshman of the Year, and National Association of Basketball Coaches Freshman of the Year.
Cunningham also played for the United States National Team at the 2019 FIBA Under-19 World Cup in Heraklion, Greece, helping his team win the gold medal. He was the leading point scorer in the finals.
He’s been described as a promising player with the most complete prospects to enter the league comparable to Lebron James.
He has the skills to be a lead scorer with a good offensive game as the point guard for the Pistons and a good defensive skill set to boot with good steals, rebounds, and some well-time blocks.
As a focused player, he should prove well in contributing across the board as a playmaker and a
shot creator setting up open teammates with strong passing skills. Cunningham is also a
confident three-level scorer and is a talent to watch.
