Before the start of the 2017 baseball season, we asked whether Washington Nationals’ outfielder Bryce Harper would have a bounce back season.
About 10 per cent of the way through the season, the answer seems to be a very evident, “YES.”
How’s this for a stat line so far (as of April 22, 2017):
He’s batting .393 with 7 homeruns, 20 RBIs, and scored 20 runs in 17 games played. While that pace will certainly slow down, Harper is still on pace for extraordinary numbers.
It’s no surprise then that his 2011 Bowman Chrome Prospect base autographed rookie has seen a steady increase since the beginning of April.
It most recently sold (BGS Graded 9.5/10) for $1,499 on eBay.
When the season started, it was sold for less than $1,000.
If he finishes this season as strong as he began, Harper can expect to cash in next season once his current contract is up with the Nationals at the end of 2017 (some say to the tune of $400 million for a 10-year contract!)
And if that happens, it looks like Bryce Harper fans will have to fork out some big bucks to be the owner of his autographed rookie cards.
