Here’s a cool article from mlb.com honoring the 2018 National Topps Baseball Card Day by choosing the single coolest Topps card from each year.
We decided to focus on the decade we’re in now and highlight some of the cards selected we agree with. We’ll also provided links to find each card on eBay for those interested in picking one of the cards up.
2011: Mike Trout Topps Update #US175
Used to be $4 when it came out…now it’s worth hundreds.
2014: Jose Ramirez Topps Chrome autograph
The list on mlb.com has the original Topps version, but this Chrome version has an on-card auto we like better.
2015: Derek Jeter Topps Series 1
Iconic moment for an iconic star player.
2017: Aaron Judge Bowman Chrome autograph rookie
We didn’t go with the regular Topps version. We went with Aaron Judge’s 2013 Bowman Chrome autograph rookie, which still has tremendous value, especially the colored parallels like the one above. Click the image to see how much it’s actually going for.
5. Shohei Ohtani 2018 Bowman Chrome autograph rookie
Just like what Aaron Judge did for the hobby in 2017, Shohei Ohtani did for 2018 (and probably more with all the international acclaim as well).
So there you have it, there are the five baseball cards that stood out for us in this decade. We’re looking forward to which stars rise to the surface in 2019 and 2020.
