The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Jackie Robinson Museum was held last week appropriately in New York where Robinson played much of his professional career.
It’s another fitting tribute for the man who broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball when he played for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947.
We’ve already acknowledged the importance of Robinson to the game of baseball and so has the league over the years with games where all current players wear his number 42 in his honor.
For any vintage card collector, Robinson’s baseball card would be a great addition to their set for his contributions on and off the field.
Here are some popular cards that belong to Robinson worth adding:
- 1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson rookie card (PSA Graded 7 was recently sold for more than $15,000 but lesser graded cards are much more affordable).
- 1949 Bowman Jackie Robinson (PSA Graded 7 recently sold for $3,400)
- 1955 Topps Jackie Robinson (PSA Graded 9 on sale as of May 2017 for more than $18,000)
