In another PWCC auction on eBay, a 1956 Topps Roberto Clemente (PSA Graded Gem Mt 10) just sold for a cool $100,099.
Forbes wrote an article yesterday after that auction ended, posing the question if the vintage baseball card boom has ended after the Clemente card sold for less than expected (despite the six figure number) by some collectors.

What I’ve learned is that predicting values for sports cards isn’t an exact science and still very much determined by the market’s whim at any given time.
One speculated the 1956 Topps Roberto Clemente could have sold for $250,000, while another predicted it could have been sold for $190,000 four months ago.
I’m not sure the winner of the auction could say getting it for $100,099 is a steal until he’s able to sell it again for a much higher price later. And how much would that higher price be?
Well, that’s really up to next set of collectors bidding on the auction. But I say it’s a fair bet, the $100,099 is the new baseline for the Clemente card in such great condition.
