Respected ESPN writer Keith Law just unveiled his top 20 prospects for the upcoming 2017 baseball season and who’s at number one?
He names Boston Red Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi and I couldn’t agree more. And I’m not just talking about his value as a future all-star.
screen-shot-2017-01-28-at-3-22-50-pmExpect the price of his rookie card to point up. In fact, it already is and Opening Day is still more than two months away.
We at fivecardguys.com already bought into the hype a bit when he was called up late last season and played for the Bosox including during the post-season where he held his own with the other veteran players.
We also followed our own advice here and took into account the fact he plays for one of the high-profile teams that collectors seem to be more attracted to when it comes to future investments.
Just three months ago, we bought his 2015 Bowman Chrome Draft base autographed rookie for $110. Now it’s listed on average for twice that amount at $220.
As long as Benintendi stays healthy and plays to his potential on a team that is expected to contend for the World Series championship this season, his sports card value should continue to trend upwards.
